St. Francis Faith Formation Center provides resources, training, and consultation serving the on-going faith formation needs of children, youth, families, and the adult community within the guidelines and directives of the “General Directory for Catechesis.” We are about empowering faith to become living, conscious and active.
Faith Formation Committee: This committee is designed to support and give oversight to faith formation in its varying forms within the parish. This is an advisory committee which periodically evaluates the faith formation programs offered, and makes recommendations to the Pastor and Catechetical Leader. This committee directly supports the position of Catechetical Leader in making appropriate decisions and recommendations for the Center’s efforts. Appointed by the Pastor the committee meets four times a year.
Catechist/Faith Facilitators: A Catechist, responds to a vocational call to “echo’s God’s Word” in various settings and most especially in the classroom with children and youth. The Catechist is trained to provide an environment of prayer, active listening, and a faithful response in the classroom under supervision by the Catechetical leader. The catechist is responsible for the preparation and implementation of lessons that correspond with the appropriate curriculum for each grade level. Contact the St. Francis Faith Formation Center for further information.

These activities are offered to youth in grades 6-12. All events are posted on the Facebook page and in the church bulletin. Activities include educational and faith building programs as well as opportunities for fun, friendship and community service. Contact the St. Francis Faith Formation Center for further information.
Youth Ministry: “The goal of diocesan and parish youth ministry is to provide age-appropriate opportunities which will lead our youth to a life-changing encounter with Christ which will nourish a faithful, fruitful and joyful friendship with Him and His Church”-Diocesan Vision for Parish Youth Ministry. St. Stephen’s Youth Ministry is mindful of the diocesan goal and continues to provide opportunities each year to gather with its youth. Liturgical, catechetical, and service roles are also recognized as ministry with, by, and for youth. Activities include retreats, educational and faith building programs as well as opportunities for fun, friendship and community out- reach. Contact St. Francis Faith Formation Center for further information.
Liturgy of the Word with Children: The ritual of the liturgy of the word with children is led by two trained adult facilitators in a child-friendly setting. Children of school age (k-6) are called forth by the Presider and after the opening prayer and sent to a quiet space. The children are led through the readings of the day with time to share what was heard and always concluding by asking “how do we respond?” Following the Apostle’s creed, prayers of the faithful are offered again with the invitation to share with the children. The children then return to their families for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Liturgy of the Word with Children takes place at the 8:30 Liturgy during the school year.
